New Security Procedures for 2017

While attending the MA Conference for Women at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, please note that magnetometers will be in use and weapons of all kinds will be forbidden from the event.  Please refrain from bringing large bags containing unnecessary items to expedite your entry through security. Backpacks will be allowed, but are discouraged due to the amount of time it takes to search all of the compartments. Please consider bringing as few bags and packing as few items as possible.

Items like pepper spray, tasers or stun-guns, knives, guns, or any other projectiles, bottles or aerosol cans larger than travel size, or extended sharp items like long handled metal combs or screwdrivers, will be confiscated and not returned. Security will not store items for later pick up under any circumstances.

For the comfort and safety of all attendees, laser pointers, air-horns, whistles, and other noise makers are prohibited.

Ways to Help #Harvey Storm Victims

Our hearts go out to all the Harvey hurricane and flood victims. If you are looking for ways to help, the New York Times recommends these national organizations:

The American Red Cross is accepting donations on its website. You can also text HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10.

AmeriCares takes medicine and supplies to survivors.

Catholic Charities provides food, clothing, shelter and support services to those from all religious backgrounds.

Donations to the Salvation Army can be made online, by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY (1-800-725-2769) or texting STORM to 51555.

AABB, which coordinates a task force to manage blood collection efforts during disasters, put out a call on Sunday for blood donations in the aftermath of Harvey. Most in demand: those with type O-positive blood.

If you know of other trustworthy organizations and local drives, please post them in the comments section.
