2015 Conference Day Suggestions: Best Session Picks for Different Job Paths

Help me plan my day! It’s a request we get more and more as we add new offerings to the Conference. “Of course, you can’t go wrong with any mix of sessions, but we do the programming with several different career tracks in mind,” says Director Laurie Dalton White. Here, our recommendations for a few different career tracks.

2014 Massachusetts Conference For Women

CAREER ROOKIES

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel “The Art of Talking About Yourself: How to Position Your Value, Not Just Your Resume” in Meeting Room 253.

11 am – 11:30 am: Have your resume reviewed by HR and Bentley career service experts in the Bentley University Career Pavilion.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend panel “Strategies to Stand Out, Step Up and Get Noticed in a Male Dominated World” in Meeting Room 258.

12:30 pm – 12:50 pm: Attend workshop “Making LinkedIn Work for YOU!” in the Cisco Networking Lounge.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Ask a career coach your burning questions inside the Bentley University Career Pavilion.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend a Social Media roundtable inside the EMC Technology Pavilion—perhaps “Building Your Personal Brand with Social Media” to define your message and expand your network.

4 pm – 5 pm: Return to the Career Pavilion if you weren’t able to see a career coach or have your resume reviewed; at 4:15 pm attend “Quick Tools to De-Stress During the Day and Sleep Better at Night” inside the Boston Scientific Health & Wellness Pavilion.

TRANSITION MAKERS

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend “Your QUANTUM LEAP: How & Now!” in Meeting Room 258.

11 am – 11:30 am: Consult a career coach inside the Bentley University Career Pavilion.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend workshop “Juicy Living, Juicy Aging: Advice to Thrive and Not just Survive 50+” in Ballroom W.

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Meet local leaders inside the Career Pavilion and learn about local volunteer opportunities in the State Street Community Connection Pavilion.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Hall; get a complimentary hand or chair massage in the Boston Scientific Health & Wellness Pavilion.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert-exchange session “Building Your Personal Brand: Sharing Practical Tools and Action Plans” in Meeting Room 253.

4 pm – 5 pm: Attend workshop “Making LinkedIn Work for YOU!” in the Cisco Networking Lounge; join a Small Business Roundtable—perhaps “Bringing Your Idea from Concept to Market”—inside the Small Business Marketplace.

LIFE-BALANCE SEEKERS

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel “Burnout: How to Set Boundaries and Frame a Priorities-Based Conversation” in Meeting Room 210.

11 am – 11:20 am: Attend workshop “Making LinkedIn Work for YOU!” in the Cisco Networking Lounge.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend session “Working Simply: Embracing the Power of Your Personal Productivity Style” in Ballroom E.

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Consult a career coach and ask local leaders how they balance work and life inside the Bentley University Career Pavilion.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Halls, including the Boston Scientific Health & Wellness Pavilion, where you can get a complimentary hand or chair massage.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend Expert Exchange session “Live Healthy. Earn Rewards. Get Financially Fit.” in Ballroom E.

4:10 pm – 5 pm: Join a Social Media Roundtable—perhaps “Leave a Lasting Impact with Instagram”—inside the EMC Technology Pavilion or at 4:15 pm attend “Quick Tools to De-Stress During the Day and Sleep Better at Night” in the Boston Scientific Health & Wellness Pavilion.

ENTREPRENEURS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel “The Art of Talking about Yourself: How to Position Your Value, Not Just Your Resume” in Meeting Room 253.

11 am – 11:30 am: Check out the exhibits in the Small Business Marketplace and learn about local volunteer opportunities inside the State Street Community Connection Pavilion.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend “A Conversation with Sophia Amoruso: Tips on How to Become Your Own #GIRLBOSS” in Meeting Room 210.

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Meet local leaders who have successfully launched a small business inside the Bentley University Career Pavilion.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

3 pm – 4 pm: Attend Expert Exchange session “Finding Inspiration from Entrepreneurs Who Do the Most with the Least” in Meeting Room 156 or join a Small Business Roundtable—perhaps “The Brand Is You” —inside the Small Business Marketplace.

4 pm – 5 pm: Learn from other entrepreneurs who are pitching their product to Good Morning America’s Tory Johnson on the Vistaprint stage in the Small Business Marketplace.
