Spotlight: St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children

st-marys-logoSt. Mary’s Women to Women Partnership program, one our 2011 “Be The Change” Award recipients, mobilizes Boston area women to help other women break the cycle of poverty through the development of essential job skills. It began as a small group of women committed to empowering other women to be catalysts for change through job training and education. The Partnership allows members to join forces with other women, to participate in exclusive St. Mary’s Center events, net-work with other partners, and strengthen their commitment to ending poverty and homelessness.
The program is a transitional jobs program that combines classroom-focused learning with a 12-week paid job. Through on-the-job training, ongoing support and a classroom curriculum designed to mirror workplace expectations; female heads of households are gaining the skills necessary to ensure brighter futures for them-selves and their children.
