Gwen Fisher

GWEN FISHER joined Shire in January 2012 and is currently head of U.S. commercial communications.  In this position, she leads a seasoned communications team responsible for advising on as well as developing and driving strategic internal and external communications and public relations programming to help optimize Shire’s U.S. product portfolio and leadership in its seven therapeutic areas of focus. She is also serves as a member of the Communications and Public Affairs senior leadership and strategy team. While at Shire, she has held a number of roles of increasing scope and responsibility. Before joining Shire, Fisher worked at Pfizer, where she served as a company spokesperson in the global media relations department and communications lead for the Worldwide business development, strategy and innovation team.  She joined Pfizer through its acquisition of Wyeth, where she served as assistant vice president, global public relations. Fisher began her pharmaceutical industry career at Merck & Co., Inc. She has also worked at Tyco, Transamerica Life Companies, ARCO (oil and gas), Childrens Hospital – Los Angeles and Westinghouse Hanford Company. Fisher earned a B.A. in communications from Washington State University and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles.  @shireplc
