Making a Good Impression
by Mel Robbins
Everyone says, "Make sure you leave a good impression." BAD advice.
"Good" doesn't cut it. To succeed, you need to be deliberate and make sure you leave the RIGHT impression. Here's how you do it:
Ask yourself — "When the meeting is over and I walk out, what are people going to say about me?"
Do you want them to say, "She was..." ‘smart' or ‘funny' or ‘no-nonsense'? Whatever your answer, that word or phrase is your guidepost on what to say, how to act and even what to wear. You now have a game plan that will bring you confidence, focus and control during any meeting or conversation.
When Donald Trump first started his real estate business out of a studio apartment, he had one expensive suit. He invested in it because it left people with the "right" impression for his business goals: that he was successful. And more importantly, when he wore it, he "felt" successful. It wasn't the suit that was important; it was how deliberate he was in making his first and lasting impression. You need to be deliberate too.
So ask yourself: When the meeting is over and I walk out, people will say I was .
Fill in the blank and you'll make the right impression, too.
